GREG COTE

Advisory Board Member

Greg obtained his CA while working at Ernst & Young in Toronto, eventually becoming a Partner in the Corporate Restructuring Group.  During his career, he advised boards & management and acted as a court-appointed monitor on restructuring strategy & execution in the financial, real estate, forestry, mining, retail, manufacturing and aviation industries.  Following the successful 2004 restructuring of Air Canada, Greg joined Ace Aviation, the investment company created to hold the business units of Air Canada, where he was responsible for M&A and other financial strategies to realize value for shareholders.

Following his retirement in 2009, Greg continues to provide leadership and advice through board membership in both business and not-for-profit sectors.  Most notably, he joined Nortel’s Board of Directors following its formal restructuring to help steer the organization in the complex sale of international business units and intellectual property assets.

Greg takes pride in his volunteer work with national sports organizations as a past board member of XC Ski Canada (now Nordiq Canada) and Cycling Canada, where he, as the Finance Chair, provided strategic advice while leading financial turnarounds at both organizations.  He continues to provide strategic, financial and governance advice as a volunteer to a number of Canadian sports organizations with the goal of creating sustainable organizations that increase access and participation for children and adults while supporting elite competitors on the world stage.
